In my recent trip, one of the must-visit must-do on my list was to go to the Asakusa Magewappa Store by master craftsman Yoshinobu Shibata and his son Masahisa Shibata.
If you are looking for the highest quality magewappa (bent wood) bento boxes, this is the place to go.
The workmanship is impeccable! Even touching the bento boxes gives me the goose bumps! :P
The prices are rather steep but worth every cent.
I made this bento for dinner on Monday, using my new bento box bought at the Asakusa Magewappa store. It is a lacquered magewappa bento box -- my favorite magewappa bento box now (also the most expensive I now own).
In fact, I wanted to buy some other bento boxes there but they were sold out! Magewappa bento boxes probably have a strong following in Japan.
If you are a bento fanatic like me, this should be on your must-visit list if you are in Asakusa :D Their website link is above, but note that it is in Japanese.
