| しんかんせんのキャラベン |
アンパンマンとともだちはしんかんせんに乗りました。笑～ 楽しかったね～
おかず：麹チキン焼き、しいたけの煮物、菜の花、レタス、蒸しコン、紫のさつまいも、卵。
おっとは「わぁ～この電車のお弁当箱は可愛いです。」と言いました。笑～
My hubby said to me this morning, "oh! your bento box is cute". LOL~ I think trains really does get that reaction in all boys :P
For today's lunch bento, I made Shinkansen character. Even Anpanman and his friends are taking the Shinkansen!
Shinkansen is the bullet train line in Japan, bringing folks to different parts of Japan at super fast speed.
The side dishes for this Shinkansen-kun kyaraben: koji-grilled chicken, seasoned shiitake mushrooms, broccolini, lettuce, steamed corn, purple sweet potato, boiled egg.

The popularity of train is apparant in Japan, Sanrio has a character series of Shinkansen, there are even train theme cafes and most of all, the huge following of ekibens (train bentos).
If you are new to ekibens, they are train bentos sold in the paid areas of major shinkansen connecting stations and lines. There are supposedly over 300 types of ekibens sold in Japan with new creations coming up. Meaning that even if you travel and eat one ekiben everyday, you wont finish tasting all!
Fans of ekibens know which exactly which are the famous top selling ekibens and know exactly which stop to get off and buy them. There are apparantly guidebooks on ekibens too.

If you happen to be travelling in Tokyo and is in the paid zone of the station, do visit this Ekiben store. They feature and sell the famous ekibens from all over Japan.
