Morning! Bento&Co is organising the 6thinternational bento contest! Are you ready? How exciting~~~

Don’t be shy, there is still 2 days left to submit your entry! Submission closes on 4 July at 11:59am (Japan Standard Time). Read more about the contest rules and regulations here.

The prizes are extremely attractive!

Get to win a trip to Kyoto and 2 nights stay at Kyoto Park Royal Hotel~ WOW~

This year’s competition topic is really interesting!

Titled as ‘Our Ingredients, Your Bento!’  You will have to make a bento using 6 pre-determined food ingredients (and one food ingredient of your choice). There will also be special attention paid to the culinary skills.
I think this year’s contest has just went up a notch and it will push the participants to be really creative in their bento!

I really like how the contest rules make it more fun this year. So I decided to make a bento following the rules as well. I won’t be entering this creation in the contest though, it’s more a challenge I posed for myself.

Plus I was preparing a video shoot for a Japan TV show so I had to make a bento anyway, decided to try my hands to create a bento out of the 7 ingredients.

So my choice of ingredient is seaweed!

In this bento, I wanted to make use of the pre determined ingredients to make a creation. So I made a poppy flower kazarimaki sushi (sushi art roll) out of carrots, rice,  broccoli and seaweed).

The side ingredients included tamagoyaki (egg), grilled potatoes and cherry tomato, broccoli and baked honey soy chicken wings.
