Bear Bento くまさんのキャラ弁・そぼろ

Soboro Bear Bento for lunch today :)

Soboro is like a crumbled minced meat topping for rice. The meat is seasoned with mirin, sake, shoyu (soy sauce) - super yummy and I enjoy eating it with rice. Plus, soboro is easy to prepare and cook. 

I had spent the entire Sunday filming with NHK WORLD crew who came by Singapore. :) NHK WORLD is NHK's International Broadcast Service and they operate international television, radio and Internet services. The show will be shown sometime in Sept. It was a very fun experience and I am very grateful for NHK WORLD's support. Am really excited to see the final product and will share more on the show feature later. 

After a fairly tiring weekend and a worsening cough (was literally croaking towards the end of the day yesterday), I could only managed a simple character bento this morning. 
To make the bear character, I packed some rice into my Magewappa Maru bento box (top tier) from Bento and co. Then I added a layer of the soboro meat. I also made two small meat patties for the bear's ears. The nose was made from rice and seaweed, while the eyes were made from seaweed on a layer of cheese. 

The side dishes from today's bento included sauteed french beans with brown button mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, broccoli, carrots, spicy lotus root. I also packed in some of the leftover soboro meat.
