| Penguin Onigiri Bento ペンギンのキャラベン |
Onigiri (also known as omusubi) is rice ball, a rice dish enjoyed by the Japanese. You can easily find onigiri everywhere in Japan, from convenience stores, to food stalls and even restaurants. They come in a wide variety of fillings/flavours. Though they might not come in penguin shapes :P
I usually mold my character rice balls freehand, but like I said, today is an easy bento. I used my new bento 'toy'. :P
I got the onigiri tool set at Rakuten Japan, it is really really easy as it has a rice mold and cutters for the seaweed parts too. :)
今日は遅く起きたくて、簡単なキャラベンを作りました。ペンギンのキャラベンはおにぎりが作れるセットを使いました。楽天で買ったんです。本当に便利ですよ～。

The side dishes for today's penguin onigiri bento were sauteed mushrooms, purple cabbage, cucumber, lettuce, tamagoyaki, mini hashbrown, sauteed prawns.
Ingredients for the characters:
Penguin (rice, seaweed)
Fish (red mini sausage)
ペンギンのキャラベンのおかず：キノコソテー、レタス、キュウリ、紫キャベツ、卵焼き、ハッシュ·ブラウン,海老ソテー。
キャラクターの部分
ペンギン（飯、海苔）
魚（赤ウインナー)
I have also made several other penguin bentos before. Some is free hand molding of rice, or using mini sausages and in the form of deco sushi roll.
