I have been meaning to post this up much earlier but just could not find the time. Sorry for being so late! heh.
This was actually the Animal Sandwich Bun Bento Workshop that I held last month. This class was open for kids to join in as well, so I had two mummies who brought their children to come make the bento.
Wanted to say a big thank you to all who came and your bento creations were all very cute!!
As I will probably not be teaching this class again, I posted the step by step recipe below! Have fun!

It was definitely fun playing with 'banana art' as I call it.
Simply use a toothpick or something thin and sharp and make marks on the banana skin for your illustrations. Wait for a while and after the areas oxidised, they blackened and you will see your drawing. Really easy and fun, give it a go!

Step by Step Recipe Guide for Animal Sandwich Buns
Ingredients (to make the 3 animal buns)
- 5 round bread buns
- seaweed
- ketchup
- mayonaise
- your favorite sandwich filling
Tools
- small scissors
- tweezer
- tooth pick
- tiny straw
Method
1. Halve your bread buns (set aside 3 and use 2 of the buns for step 2)
2. Using the small scissors, cut the parts of the animals using the bread and seaweed. Here is what you will need for the 3 animals.
Tip: Flatten the bread slightly for the nose parts. Use the tiny straw to punch out the pig's nostrils!
3. Assemble the parts together. Make two small insertions at the top of the bread buns to insert the ears for teddy bear and tiger. Dab a little mayonaise to help the parts stick together.
4. Pack your sandwich filling. Dab on some ketchup for the cheeks to complete the animal sandwich bun! And you are done :)
