Morning! I made a simple but fun piggy bento today! And you probably guessed it - the little piglets are made from hard boil quail eggs (and some mini hotdogs - you can also use ham)! Beneath the piggies in the bento is some tossed pasta.
Coupled with some vegetable sides to balance the carbs in the meal, including broccoli, carrots, lettuce and some cherries. Yup, those are the baby Japanese rainier cherries I blogged about earlier - really nice and sweet tasting!
I love this pasta and quail egg combo as the bento was so easy to make. The pasta was tossed in a bowl, so while I was waiting for the pasta to cook, I could work on the quail eggs characters. I completed the bento in about 45mins time from cooking to packing.
I needed lunch today, but as I was not feeling quite well (am coming down with a cough) I decided to keep things simple and made this cute piggy bento. I hope you like it.
Have a good week ahead. Tomorrow I will have something really fun to share with you.
Today's bento was packed in the lunch case from Afternoon Tea Japan. I love the wooden cover and its constrast with the body of the box . This lunchbox also won the 2013 good design award! It also comes with a silicon seal lid to help prevent leakage.
