I am sure many of you might know of the super cute Walt Disney animation film, Frozen that was screened end of last year. (I cannot believe that I missed heading to the cinemas to watch it!!) I am a huge fan of animations :D

The trailers on Youtube are super hilarious, I cannot wait to get my hands on the video!!

The film tells the story of how a princess goes on a journey alongside a mountain man with his loyal reindeer, the cute snowman Olaf to find her sister, Elsa with icy powers that has trapped the kingdom in icy winter.

Some have requested me to make a Frozen bento, so over here I have a Olaf, the humorous snowman and Elsa, the Snow Queen. I hope you like this icy theme bento! hehe.

Elsa was made from seaweed cutting, similar to all my earlier seaweed cutting bentos. I used an ACTO knife to cut the seaweed. I printed an image from the internet, placed it over my seaweed and cut out the outlines. I then place the seaweed on an oblate sheet bought in Japan, added some light colors for the face and body and dusted some edible silver dust on the hair!

I really like the silver dust's effect on Elsa's hair!

For those who want to understand more about oblate sheets, please visit this post where I will show the usage of the oblate sheet and also the link to buy the sheets on Amazon Japan, please note that you will need to have a Japanese address or forwarding service to buy them.
Olaf was made from hard boiled quail eggs, seaweed and carrot. Here is a quick pictorial guide to make Olaf!. Hope you like it!

オラフの作り方です。皆さん、見てみてください。

Method
1) Gently shape the hard boil quail eggs to form the head and body for olaf. Give a gentle squeeze and shape the eggs as desired. Over here I created a diamond like shape for the head, and flatter smaller balls for the body.
2) Attached the quail eggs together using pasta stick. The pasta stick will soften after a few hours and totally edible. However, if you are consuming the bento immediately, please deep fry the pasta stick first before using.
3) Cut the facial parts from seaweed, egg white and carrot. I added teeth to make the Olaf character cuter. They are also made from egg white.
4) Complete the character by added seaweed for Olaf's hands and buttons.
